Best reasons to see your dentist in Mississauga for a tooth-colored crown

Today more than ever, we find it important to repair teeth in such a way that the smile’s natural appearance is preserved. A crown is a customized restoration that is designed to replicate the size and shape of a tooth. Though it is possible for a crown to be made from gold or other types of metal, the most commonly used material for dental crowns is porcelain. This material, whether used on its own or as a covering for a metal substructure, best resembles natural enamel for results that patients love.

Your dentist in Mississauga may use a dental crown for a number of reasons:

  • Extensive damage from decay. In some cases when a cavity has caused extensive damage that has affected the overall structural integrity of the tooth, the best way to restore full function is by covering the entire structure with a beautiful crown. Crowns are also used to replace old, cracked amalgams.
  • A fracture or break in a tooth minimizes functionality and also invites bacteria into small crevices, where decay can set in. A crown covers the broken tooth, cushioning chewing force and keeping bacteria out.
  • Worn enamel can cause sensitivity as the softer inner tissues and nerves are less protected by natural enamel. A beautiful porcelain crown provides protection and prevents further wear.
  • Infection in a tooth may require root canal therapy, leaving the tooth brittle. Further damage can be prevented with a crown.
  • Missing teeth can be replaced with bridgework, dentures, or dental implants, all of which include a crown or crowns for support or function and beauty.
  • Cosmetic issues such as poor shape or proportions or internal discoloration may all be disguised beneath a custom designed, tooth-colored crown.

Our Happy Patients Say

Procedure – Gum Disease Testimonial

Hi I’m at dentistry on 10 and I had gum disease and they treated it. Laser treatment, laser gum treatment and I just want to say it was awesome. I have the rota dent brush and I use that daily and it keeps my mouth fresh and clean and hopefully it’ll prevent any future issues. The staff here is amazing, always so polite Doctor Rena rocks. I’ve seen her for years totally rocks. She is very kind gentle, especially if you don’t like the dentist. She’s the one to go to because she’s there for you and she’s sensitive to your needs and she rocks. Just want to say I had a root canal with her many, many, years ago and it she’s so gentle. I don’t know what the big issue is with the root canals, so that’s my feelings. All good. Highly recommend.
