Wisdom teeth are located in the back of a patient’s mouth. These molars typically begin to erupt during the teenage years or in early adulthood. As the wisdom teeth start to come in, they may cause problems such as pain, tenderness, and swelling of the gums. For some patients, wisdom teeth do not come in properly but even when they do, wisdom teeth are difficult to care for and keep clean, meaning there is an increased risk for periodontal disease or other dental issues.

When wisdom teeth begin to appear or to cause problems, dentists can examine the mouth and take x-rays to determine if removal is necessary. Prior to the procedure, the patient has a consultation with Dr. Kotecha to discuss the procedure, what is to be expected before and after, and the recovery. The area will then be repaired with stitches.

Wisdom teeth are removed for a number of reasons, mainly to prevent or to correct problems. Tooth impaction can cause other problems such as infections, cysts, or damage to the other teeth or bone. I’ve seen her for years totally rocks. She is very kind gentle, especially if you don’t like the dentist. She’s the one to go to because she’s there for you and she’s sensitive to your needs and she rocks. Just want to say I had a root canal with her many, many, years ago and it she’s so gentle. I don’t know what the big issue is with the root canals, so that’s my feelings. All good. Highly recommend.
