Mississauga ON families access orthodontics care for alignment of teeth at kid-friendly clinic

It’s estimated as many as 70 percent of kids get braces by the time they turn 18. Children’s jaws may be too small to accommodate teeth. This mismatch results in crowding that may be resolved with orthodontics at a clinic you can trust in Mississauga ON for alignment of teeth: Dentistry on 10.

Cause and effect

As the most common chronic childhood condition, tooth decay affects more kids than asthma, diabetes, or obesity. Dental disease causes teeth to shift progressively.

Before Dentistry on 10 moves forward with orthodontic treatment existing disease must be cleared up. Braces only treat potential symptoms. They can worsen damaging conditions. Methods such as conventional braces to straighten teeth may complicate brushing and flossing when metal wires and brackets get in the way of dental instruments.

Early childhood disease also promotes poor alignment. Baby teeth serve as “place-holders” for permanent teeth. Without a “guide,” erupting teeth may not grow in as they should.

Crooked teeth and misaligned bites are associated with lifelong problems, including:

  • Difficulty chewing
  • Lisps and speech difficulties
  • Poor self-confidence
  • Social withdrawal
  • Frequent ear and sinus infections
  • Strain on jaws and muscles
  • Excess wear on neighbouring teeth

Dr. Kotecha and her team see the benefits of conventional and newer straightening methods, for young and “seasoned” patients alike.

Conventional options such as braces are an effective way to treat many different types of bite and spacing problems. Newer options such as Invisalign are also an effective way to treat many types of problems, only they are by and large less obtrusive.

Since the Invisalign method uses clear, nearly transparent aligners that resemble night- or mouth-guards to gradually reposition teeth, they may be an attractive option for busy professionals and adolescents who’d rather not have silver wires and brackets. The very youngest patients may also benefit from functional orthodontic appliances before teeth and jaw development stops around age 12.

Our Happy Patients Say

Procedure – Gum Disease Testimonial

Hi I’m at dentistry on 10 and I had gum disease and they treated it. Laser treatment, laser gum treatment and I just want to say it was awesome. I have the rota dent brush and I use that daily and it keeps my mouth fresh and clean and hopefully it’ll prevent any future issues. The staff here is amazing, always so polite Doctor Rena rocks. I’ve seen her for years totally rocks. She is very kind gentle, especially if you don’t like the dentist. She’s the one to go to because she’s there for you and she’s sensitive to your needs and she rocks. Just want to say I had a root canal with her many, many, years ago and it she’s so gentle. I don’t know what the big issue is with the root canals, so that’s my feelings. All good. Highly recommend.
