Missing a tooth? Replacement with a dental bridge is within reach in Mississauga ON
Dentistry on 10 is pleased to offer
Designing your bridge
In its most basic form, a 3-unit bridge includes:
- the pontic or replacement tooth
- two abutments on either side of the pontic
Neighbouring abutment teeth must be crowned to provide support to the pontic. A portion of the natural tooth is reduced and shaped, which makes room for the crown. The pontic and crowns are fused together and bonded as a single piece to existing tooth structure.
Considering bridges?
Dr. Kotecha may recommend this approach, especially if you lack sufficient bone structure for dental implant-supported bridges. Bridges are also a cost-effective alternative to dental implants.
Dentistry on 10 appreciates porcelain bridges for their lifelike characteristics; however, the team doesn’t limit your choices. Porcelain-fused-to-metal offers both a tooth-like appearance and lasting durability and strength.
Well-established restorative treatments are appreciated for being low-maintenance. Bridges require a little TLC, but Dr. Kotecha and her team are happy to show you how to clean under and around the bridge. Some patients take to using a floss threader. Others prefer interdental brushes to remove food debris and plaque before it hardens. With proper cleaning, your bridge can last for a decade or longer.
Alternatives
Modern dental implants are also within reach at Dentistry on 10, even for those patients who have suffered bone loss or are on a fixed budget. Dr. Kotecha’s services include bone grafting to build up the foundation for your implant-supported teeth. All-on-4 systems allow for maximum support with minimal implants, thanks to the strategic placement of as little as 4 implants per upper or lower jaw.
