Foot reflexology is a special add-on service offered by the team at Dentistry On 10. Our team includes an in-house reflexologist, Irene Vrbensky, who can relax patients using massaging techniques on the feet.
Many patients who visit the dentist are fearful or anxious about dental appointments. Reflexology can be used to help induce a deep state of relaxation and can be done during dental work. It has shown to reduce pain, lessen fear, and improve the healing process. It is known to relax both patient and dentist during treatments.
Reflexology is an art of stimulating an area of the body to activate healing mechanisms. Ancient Chinese and Indian medicines used to incorporate this therapeutic technique to provide positive health benefits to individuals who were experiencing stress of certain body organs. They believed that certain areas of the foot relate to certain organs and areas of the body.
Reflexology treatments are extremely relaxing. In fact, many patients are so comfortable they fall asleep in the dentist’s chair! Patients can enjoy several benefits of reflexology, including insomnia relief, a reduction in back pain and headaches, and less anxiety and fear.
During your dental treatment, you are reclined in the dental chair to start the reflexology sessions. Irene begins with a foot massage and addresses the points of the feet that are connected to the teeth, jaw, spine, and the solar plexus reflex points. They finish the reflexology treatment with a foot massage incorporating essential oils for relaxation and healing.
Patients can discuss with Dr. Kotecha and her associates the benefits of dental foot reflexology and the length of time needed for the treatment. Prices are as follows:
- 30 minutes: $40
- 45 minutes: $60
- 60 minutes: $70
